You Said Que?: Como se dice "Parking" en Español?

I always try my hardest to learn the right way to say words in Spanish.I try not to fall into the lazy pit of using slang or making up my own invented "translations".Sometimes it's hard not to do that and sometimes it's funny to do it but I really love the language the Spanish language because it makes me feel closer to my heritage to listen to it and be able to speak it, that's why I take pride in speaking it as correctly as I can. However, lately I've started noticing that in the rest of the…See More

Hispanics by any other name

Tonight I was watching the 11:00 o'clock news in Spanish language channel Univision. I saw a package about the fact that Hispanics continue to identify themselves through their individual nationalities rather than under the umbrella term "Hispanic"or the similar "Latino". Daysi La Latinita from Miami

Hey everybody! How are my Latinitas? My name is Daysi. I'm 25 and I'm half-Nicaraguense and half-Spanish. But to tell you the truth, I'm a big time Miami girl. I love this city. It's not just because of the amazing sunshine, beautiful downtown area or of coursethe famous and infamous Miami beach, it's because of the people! I've often heard complaints about people from Miami. "They are loud", "sometimes they are rude", or the most common one "people in Miami are just too superficial." But I…See More
