Movies to Watch this Month

Finding DoryEven as an Adult Woman I find myself excited for the movie premiere of Pixar's "Finding Dory". This movie is a sequel to "Finding Nemo" which came out May 30, 2003, I was in third grade I believe when this came out so this a very long awaited sequel. In summary, Dory, who is a very forgetful fish, starts remembering things about her past (her family and where she lived), so she begins her journey to get back in touch with who she was.The Tale Of Princess Kaguya The Tale of Princess…See More

Advice for Incoming College Freshmen

When I graduated high school I literally didn't know what to do next or even how to go about going to college. I was the first in my family to even attempt to go to college so there was no knowledge passed on to me, no advice to give me direction. So I asked: random strangers in line for Financial Aid and Counseling, the Go Center Advisor, my friend's older brothers and sisters, and the internet for advice. Through the years, I have compiled a pretty good amount of knowledge on the subject to…See More

Teacher Appreciation Week: "Why do you Appreciate Teachers?"

May 2 through May 6 is teacher appreciation week. This is a week to tell all the teachers why they matter, why they make an impact, and why they are like no other! So in the height of this celebration I asked the Interns of Latinitas why they appreciate their teachers. They see your potential and set high expectations to help you reach it"I have several teachers in mind. My pedagogy is modeled after my "mean" teachers. They weren't mean or strict, they just had high expectations because they…See More

Music of the Moment!

I've always been really into music blogs like Blalock's Indie Playlist, Brooklyn Vegan, Pitchfork, Noisey, etc. I've always wanted to make one but kept running into excuses for myself. So here it is Becky's April Playlist hope you like it!  First artists I wanted to highlight were the Arcs. I didn't hear about them until last week.LAST WEEK! Can you believe that? If you think they're very reminiscent of the Black Keys you are on to something because the lead singer of the Black Keys is also the…See More

My Last Year of College

It feels like it was so quick and yet it took forever. Two degree changes and 4 years later and here I am 8 months away from graduating with my Bachelors in Marketing. I am the first in my family to go this far in my education and I am very happy about it. My little sister (she hates it when I call her that but I'll do it anyway) just started college I am proud of her value of higher education. I am excited about the opportunities that may come up moving forward, but also in the back of my mind…See More
