"Great bog post! Like the saying goes, "home is where the heart is". When I read this it takes me back to when I was away from my islita and I used to miss the sounds, the climate and the people. Our pride is in our heart and home."

Christmas Spirit...I might need a little!

Everyone around me seems to already feel their Christmas spirit. My peers have already posted their Christmas tree pictures on facebook and changed their profile picture to something festive...My neighbors have decorated their house beautifully...I on the other hand have not gotten into the Christmas spirit yet. I still have my profile picture with my cat, my house is plain and un-christmasy and my tree is still in a box. It might be that I have so much things to do from the university and…See More

"Your blog touched really close to home and agree with you 100%. Once everything tries piles up and becomes like a never ending to-do list then it starts to feel as if you're not being yourself, just a drone working towards fulfilling the next…"

"The day before thanksgiving I like inviting my friends over and doing a pre-thanksgiving before we all head over to our respective homes. That way I get to have a close party with my friends and spend good quality time together.  I wish I had a…"

Dealing with academic pressure

At the moment I am stressed...and sometimes stress can make you feel like you can't do anything. Sometimes I wish I had another me that could help me with all of the responsibilities I have. As you grow older, you have more and more responsibilities, and handling them can at times be difficult. Once we go into college a new realization hits us...we are no longer in high school, nor can we rely on mom and dad to save the day. It is our responsibility to do things and do them right. This pressure…See More

Boricua! What I want people to know about my culture.

I come from a very proud family. I was raised to love my culture and my heritage, and for that I greatly appreciate my family. I think this is something very important for Puerto Ricans, because as a colony from the United States, many feel as if our culture is being lost...as we no longer have an identity of our own. Not only this, but being a colony also takes away our independence and freedom. This is one of the reasons there has been formed various misconceptions of Puerto Ricans that I…See More

"I agree. There are more and more people spreading the word as well, and it needs to be know that it's not ok to expose anyone to any form of belittlement.  Even Wanda Sykes thinks so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWS0GVOQPs0"

"October is also LGBT History Month. I'm glad more and more people are taking a stance and more LGBT (or are they sticking with a stereotype?) characters are coming out, like the New Normal. The New Normal has secured a spot in my heart, because…"

so gay...que pato

I recently discovered October is stop bullying month. As I thought about different topics I could write about, the first thing that came to my mind was the constant bullying to the LGBT community. We have heard all the stories of harassment and violence towards the LGBT community and to many of us this are sad news to hear. But today, through this blog, I am going to write about the unconscious bullying we sometimes do. We do this without noticing, we might be offensive towards someone. We say…See More
