In today's world, many of us go to school, work, and are inside a building, house, or place. I think a lot of us do not realize that there is so much you can enjoy doing outside. When I was a little girl, I remember going to the park with my sister and riding my bike or rollerskating. It was so much fun! Of couse, when you are a little girl a lot of things are more fun than when you get older. Anyway, I was just recently thinking about my life and how I do not spend enough time outside.…

Spanglish
I'm always blow away at teens' keen management of Spanglish. I heard two Latinitas teen interns chatting it up yesterday and was truly impressed how much English and Spanish collide in their exchanges, but their conversation makes sense and flows for them. It makes me think about how the Latinitas in our clubs view their bilingual-ness. I don't feel like it's with pride most of the time. Us older types are telling you - this is a gift, an asset that will enhance your adulthood, your future…

Is your major the most overrated choice in college??
I was reading a blog on USA Today college http://www.usatodayeducate.com/staging/index.php/blog/most-overrated-college-choice-your-major yesterday that was pretty interesting concerning majors in college and I mostly agree with what the author has to say.
A major shouldn't be the most important choice in college because that doesn't guarantee that you will work in the…

One of my favorite hair tricks that I learned in ballet. Ever wonder how ballerinas have such perfect buns? Some girls do have long enough hair to make a bun the normal way and hairspray it down so it stays perfectly. If you have medium or short hair though there is hope for you :)
Take a dress sock or knee high sock the same color as your hair and cut the tip off the foot. Then begin rolling it outward, it should look like a donut when you are done. Now make a pony tail with your…

The Fight is Far from Over
Traditionally, women have been seen as the lesser, weaker sex. After all, during the birth cycle, we stop developing at an earlier stage than males in some aspects. For years, we've struggled to change this stereotype. Lately, though, I've been reading a lot of articles that make me wonder how close we are to truly eliminating gender discrimination.
Recently, a CBS correspondent,…

I just want to travel
Yesterday evening I talked to my old roommate, Vanessa. We haven't seen each other since graduation and are planning on reuniting soon along with our other friend, Sandra. When we lived together we were like the 3 musketeers. Sandra is the most outgoing girl I have met. She can go up to any stranger and be friends with them 5 minutes later.....I think that's how we met. :). Vanessa is a bit shy and serious but she definitely has a funny side. She's more to herself yet she's…

Born this way
I’m sure you guys know who Lady Gaga is. I mean unless you’ve been hiding under a rock but since you’re reading this, it means you have internet access and that you are familiar with pop culture.
She just realized her new single a few days ago and naturally I had to listen to it. I had been looking forward to it for a long time. It’s called “Born this Way” which is also the title of her next album.
The song was amazing! It’s a good catchy beat and fun to…

Happy Valentine's Day
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!
I hope you guys are having a wonderful Valentine’s day!! I know, I’m a little cheesy but I LOVE love! I do! It’s such a wonderful feeling and well I’m not just talking about the kind of love you feel for a partner, which is also amazing but about all the love we have to give in our relationships with our friends, family, dogs, (jeje), etc.
I am happy to experience love and be able to tell my closest friends and relatives that I love them. I am happy to…

Sometimes we think Valentine's Day is just for couples, married couples, or celebrating romantic love.
In reality, this holiday was established in 496 AD! This very old tradition was mean to celebrate any type
of special relationship that we have with people. Yes, that includes friendship, friends, and any love and care
you can have for a person. You do not have to be older or in a romantic relationship to celebrate it.
When I was younger, I remember buying…

Media Mobility
Millions of miles away Egyptians are rejoicing in their ability to change history. United, they came together to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak after his 30-year presidency. Although Egypt is on the other side of the world, people all from all countries are celebrating this incredible victory with Egypt.
It's unbelievable to imagine this movement started on Twitter. Who would have thought that a social network would give way to such a massive movement? The internet is such…

So yesterday Marisol and Helen made my day by telling me I was knowledge able and a walking encyclopedia :) So in favor of them I have decided that every Friday I'm going to post some did you know facts.
So the national medical symbol why is it a snake wrapped around a T- shaped rod you may be asking. Well years and years and years and probably some more years ago this symbol came to be all because of small parasite. Ring worms are caused by fungus and can most often be caught if you…

With a little help from my friends...
Last night while I was heading home after a meeting and I got lost. I was downtown and couldn't find the freeway. See the thing is that I have a bad sense of direction. I have to go to a place several times before I know exactly how to get there. I've been downtown a few times but not enough to know my way around. Usually I have friends that help me and thank goodness I do. I called one of my friends that guided me back to the right way.
Most of my friends and…

My long awaited culture shock
written 10/23/09- thought I would share my culture shock and how thankful I am that I had it. :o)
I feel as if I’ve been walking around with my eyes closed for the last 24 years of my life. If by chance they were open, I was numb to so much around me. I am so lucky to be working for a company that even through all the criticism and fear due to a struggling economy, still values diversity enough to continue investing in the future of Latino Leaders (and of all cultures). I…

Motorcycle Diaries
Yesterday I watched The Motorcycle Diaries or Diarios de Motocicleta with a friend. I had already watched it before a few years ago and I really liked it. My friend had never seen it and I thought he would like it we watched it.
I remember when I watched it the first time. I heard about it from a friend. He had been moved by the film and well I was interested. The movie is based on the memoirs of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Che and his friend are young adventure seeking…
