Cesar Chavez legacy continues

Tomorrow is Cesar Chavez Day and I am very excited to commemorate a Latino leader of social equality. I did a profile on Cesar Chavez earlier this year and I got to know more of what a great person he was and how inspiring he continues to be for younger generations.

Last Friday, Marisol and I decided to go a work in progress film screening, "Cesar's Last Fast" by filmmaker Richard Ray Perez at Mercado Mayapan. an indoor Mexican market,

The film has…

Boredom is a killer :/

So I am the type of person who needs to be constantly busy or ill end up wasting lots of time (most likely sleeping :)) and now skills usa competition is done as well as theater. It is time to start looking for something new! I'm thinking taking up gymnastics again but I am not too sure. I have been dying to try archery but I am not even sure if El Paso has anything like that. We'll see I am sure I will find something to take up my time. if anyone has a ny suggestions it would be greatly… Continue

Open Mic - anyone?

Can you sing, dance, play an instrument, share a story, crack jokes or recite a poem? Well if you can and you're not too shy, then I highly encourage you to perform at an open mic.

Open mics are perfect opportunities for artistically talented individuals (like you, I'm sure you are) to showcase their wonderful abilities.

I went to an monthly open mic at a coffee shop in downtown El Paso and it is always a lot of fun. Now I have to admit, I have never…

Home

It's funny, as much as I may complain about being bored in El Paso it always feels nice to be home after vacation. I definitely missed El Paso even though I was only gone for a little while. I guess there is just always something about your hometown. I certainly do love El Paso...even if I complain about it a lot.

Pride and Prejudice

In the midst of the hectic life that I have, I try to squeeze in time to do some enjoyable things. On Tuesday, I checked out Pride and Prejudice (the movie) at the library. One of my absolutely favorite actors (Colin Firth) plays the main male character and I've been wanting to watch it for a long time. I fell in love with Firth during college. My roommate had the Diary of Bridget Jones movie and we decided to watch it. I loved the movie! And I loved Mark Darcy (Firth) in the movie.…

Women's Herstory Month

March is Women's History Month in the U.S. During the month, various events like conferences, marches and rallies take place in order to celebrate women's achivements, address women's ongoing struggles and honor women all over the world.

At UTEP (the University of Texas in El Paso) a women's conference was held today to discuss women's triumphs, issues and activitism.. Some of the topics (that I might say were extremely interesting) were

Taking time for reflection

This Spring Break week was fantastic for me. I spent four days in Padre Island, Tx where some of the more nicer beaches in texas are located. I decided to take the trip to take some time off from the same routine I go through during my usual weeks. School, work, school, work, homework, school, we all know the routine that our lives can bring us into and one day you just get tired of it. During my beach time, I thought a lot about how beautiful our oceans, animals, and how lucky we are…

Today

Today was crazy, we first interviewed Nina's mom and then this awesome band came called Profetas they were so boss!!! Then we did videos with still pictures. One group though we stole their idea but we didn't which is very insulting because I never steal. But besides that great day I was a little cranky this morning, but it's all good
