Today, we are faced with an every day challenge to conform to what society believes she should look like, act like, and think like. It seems as if our generation has lost touch of what being ourselves is really like. We are immediately stopped by thousands of ads that remind us that seem to aim to drill into our minds that one imperfection is enough to stain our entire being, and that's not the case.
I want to remind, not only women, but also men, that it doesn't matter where you come…Continue

I've always been really into music blogs like Blalock's Indie Playlist, Brooklyn Vegan, Pitchfork, Noisey, etc. I've always wanted to make one but kept running into excuses for myself. So here it is Becky's April Playlist hope you like it!
First artists I wanted to highlight were the Arcs. I didn't hear about them until last week.LAST WEEK! Can you believe that? If you think they're very reminiscent of the Black Keys you are on to something because the lead singer of the Black Keys…Continue

Lately I've been feeling very pressured in situations regarding my responsibilities not only in school, but outside of school. At home, with my friends, at work, etc. Sometimes it feels as if others don't understand you! (Yes, momma I'm talking to you)
But I don't want to sound like some troubled individual because quite frankly I'm not. I enjoy the things I do, and I enjoy having a million things to do, however... there are a few things I'd like to explain to some of you who just…Continue

Last week we had a political lesson at our after school clubs. Here are some of the letters our Latinitas wrote to our future president.
Dear future president,
Please work on student debt and immigration issues. I am a Latina and would like to see these issues addressed. I know both of these are concerns for the future generations.
Dear Donald Trump,
I am very aware that you are running for president of the United States, and I…

This cartoon made me realize of the discrimination and stereotypes Mexicans have.
When did the origins for this generalization of stupidity among Mexicans begin? How is it that US citizens think they are better and highly ranked than other cultures? Why does the European…

This Saturday morning, I needed a pick me up and reading something inspirational and powering is always the ticket. Well, I started out with my usual cup of coffee and watched Jane the Virgin to distract me. Like every morning, I check all of my social media and sweeping through Twitter is nothing unusual. I then came across Gina Rodriguez being talked about and I decided to follow the trend and I came across Women's Health magazine and right in the cover was Gina Rodriguez. Something deep…Continue

Yesterday I walked through my college campus. I saw a row of T-shirts hanging like dead men on a clothesline with words written all over them. As I walked closer, there was the usual "No means No," "Still not asking for it," and a variety of other phrases used to "encourage" victims of sexual harassment to continue being the strong people that they are. However, instead of feeling proud of these well-meaning individuals, I was rather frustrated. Yes, a person shouldn't force themselves…Continue

As a currently active member of the Greek community, I've found myself stuck in many awkward conversations with those who are outside looking in. There are many stereotypes I've heard about and some range from understandable to absolutely absurd.
What bothers me the most is that these sterotypes are based on how the media chooses to portray us, or by one person's experience rather than what we actually experience in Greek Life. I personally believe that these stereotypes can lead some…Continue

Some girls share with us what they have learned and wath advices they woul give to girls on how to do good in college.
Maggie: I learned that time management, dedication, and responsability is a key to do great in college. Being involved in organizations and in social communities can really help you fit in and get familiar with the college and other students, this helps build relationships. Maintaining good grades and GPA in high school and taking AP and dual credit classes can really…Continue

It feels like it was so quick and yet it took forever. Two degree changes and 4 years later and here I am 8 months away from graduating with my Bachelors in Marketing. I am the first in my family to go this far in my education and I am very happy about it. My little sister (she hates it when I call her that but I'll do it anyway) just started college I am proud of her value of higher education.
I am excited about the opportunities that may come up moving forward, but also in the back…Continue

They say you shouldn't work on your birthday, but I'm just gonna completely toss that thought out because hard work is all year long, no? #inspirational
I've never been a big fan of birthdays. For those of you who know me, I've always been a very talkative person, but I'm shy too. I don't like having the spotlight on me, and sometimes it can feel very overwhelming. and turning 19, is a very awkward step stone! You're old enough to be considered an adult, but too young for most…Continue
