My history professor seemed nice at first, but as they always say, looks can be deceiving. I saw her true colors from the moment an African-American student came in, he was interested in the class and was wondering if he could “add it.” He asked her and she played dumb and pretended not to hear him. She likes to be addressed as “Dr.” because she has a PhD. But surprisingly despite with her years of being in school and presumably analyzing literature of all sorts, she couldn’t figure out what…

In This blog I am hoping will show and inspire you to see just how far a strong Latina woman can go if they just put there mind to it. Lupe Ontiveros her name was. Like most other Latinitas I started school again and so far I like it. I'm taking 16 units and my classes consist of a literature course in Mythology and as a Classics major, I love it! I'm also taking an ancient civilization course and I'm pretty excited to read Ancient Egyptian literature, since I have never read any .... it will be something very new. I'm also taking my first Biology course which I'm still ambivalent about it, I'm not so sure if I like it so far. I feel a bit…

The Scare That Made Me Aware
Being a big sister isn't an easy. My little sister can often be a handful and we have our share of fights, but since I left for college we have become extremely close. We can pretty much tell each other anything, but this summer she shared something with me that was kind of hard to handle.
I thought our vacation to South Padre would be time for relaxation and forgetting about problems back at home. I was wrong. One night as me and my sister were lying in bed she told me she had found…

I am a servant
Before I gave my life to Christ, I realized that there was something in me that really like to help people. When I was helping those around me, I had the wrong intentions. I wanted people to like me, praise me, thank me, and think good of me. But I still like helping because I got what I wanted. It got to the point where I stopped helping people…

First week after returning to school... many, many words come to mind, but one stands out: MADNESS
For some of us going back to school is meeting new and old friends, catching up with the latest news, in one sense, is a great time. For others, is more like not a big deal, more money to spend, more work to do, etc. For the rest of us is just hectic.
I happened to discovered that I have done in this week more of what I done during the summer. I feel like if I'm in the middle of…

First Week of Classes
The Fall semester is finally here! While summer was fun, this new semester seems to hold a lot in store. I was feeling slightly overwhelmed by the amount of things I had happening my first few days but it seems that I'm adjusting to this new academic year very well. I think I am most excited about my philosophy course because it is taking the theoretical into practice. An interesting idea for a subject area that most deem to be purely theoretical.
I am also jumping back into student…

My life as a Beatles fan
I’ve been listening to the Beatles since I was a dancing fetus.
At four years of age, I already had in mind who I wanted to marry. Unfortunately for me, the only four men I thought I could ever love were either 50-something years old or… dead. Their music, however, was as fresh as it had ever been.
The Beatles, whose career peeked in 1964 and lasted until 1970, were one of the most successful and influential bands in the history of popular music. In fact, they…
