I reciently became a yearbook editor for my school and, although I have been on the yearbook staff in the previous years, I've learned that there is SO much work that has to be put into the book of the year! I've never been an editor. In my sophomore year I was a photographer but that's all I did- take pictures and turn them in. I did work on one page but that was a group project, and because I didn't know how to use InDesign and my friend did, she did most of the work. But now, after two…Continue
Last week I came across something on Twitter that really upset me at first. A guy friend of mine retweeted a post from a friend of his saying, "What's up with girls thinking they live in the Notebook. Grow up.". What upset me about this, is first off I LOVE the Notebook, and second what is so wrong with us girls wanting such a beautiful, timeless love like the one portrayed by Noah and Allie?
Then I began to wonder, are we really expecting too much when it comes to guys? We are a…Continue
So today I had to say goodbye to one person that almost meant the world to me... (NOTE i said ALMOST).
I thought it would be harder, yes it hurts, but I thought I wouldn't be able to hold in anything! I guess it
was just the fact that we had a…Continue
This past weekend I got into a small fight with my mom over a silly and pointless thing. I was frustrated and mad at her, as I am sure she was frustrated with me. I didn't even want to see her and avoided talking to her all day, which is rare since my mom and I are really close. As the evening approached I realized how could I have been so mad at her for something so unimportant. I immediately apologized for acting the way I did and she apologized to me, even though she…Continue
It has been awhile since I have last done a blog. I just thought I would use this entry to wish my parents a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. They have been married 32 years. Through the fights and arguments they always end the night was a kiss and never sleep apart from each other. To know that they have been together through it all is what makes me believe that there is truly someone for everyone. My mom told me that she always liked my dad, just wasn't sure she truly loved him when they got married.…Continue
Over the past ten years or so, social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, & Myspace have come to dominate the internet with thousands of Facebook and Twitter accounts popping up daily. However, I recently read that Myspace has been sold & is most likely going to be shut down, as very few people use Myspace today. So that got me to thinking. Myspace was extremely popular when I was in middle school & the beginning of my freshman year in high school, but it has quickly fallen as…Continue
Every year I am so proud of the interesting and diverse group of girls and teens who come together for our summer camp series in Central Texas (not to be confused with our awesome West Texas camps) from as nearby as downtown Austin and as far away as the Rio Grande Valley. This week was no exception. Girls came into camp nervous and quiet and are leaving expressing their points of view about art, media, friendships and even more high-brow topics such as politics and feelings! Our media…Continue

Have I mentioned I was a big time feminist? IT might sound weird and extreme, but I was. Regarding guys I was a horrible person, I wouldn’t let anyone in my life, and as soon as something would get serious I would run away. There had been times when I couldn’t believe how much insecurity I had accumulated inside me. The truth it wasn’t my fault since I didn’t; wanted to break away from my fear of getting hurt and I had rather decided to juts close myself to any kind of feelings. I had broken…Continue
Today I didn't really have an idea what to write about so I read a couple of my fellow Latinitas' blogs for ideas. I read Dominique Gonzalez's "The Backyard Virgin" and it was really good! She talked about the sighting of the Virgin Mary in an east El Paso home and she added a link at the bottom of the page of KDBC's coverage on the story. After watching the video provided I was amazed! It really does look like the…Continue
Summer is here (officially we marked the first day of summer yesterday), and with summer comes swimming pools, ice cream, hanging out with friends, and soaking up the sun! But summer also means baithing suits, shorts, dresses, skirts, and showing a little skin- the things we aren't very eager about during this wonderful time of year. Although my friends and I aren't overweight and we really don't need to watch our wieght (I can't stand it when a skinny girl says she's fat), we have noticed…Continue
If you happen to be looking for an inexpensive, quick, and easy way to stay fit and healthy this summer YOGA is your answer! Yoga is not only inexpensive and easy to learn if you take basic classes, but it benefits both your physical and mental health.
Yoga was first started almost 3,000 years ago in India as a way to train your body, mind, and soul as well as a way to connect with your spirituality. Yoga is offered in…Continue
Last night my friend thought it would be fun to take me to a home on the east side where people believe the Virgin Mary had appeared. I was hesitant because of course this is someone's property we would be disturbing, and it was almost midnight. I was also quite skeptical about holy apparitions (especially to latinos), after seeing the infamous tortilla with the face of Jesus burned onto it, on Primer Impacto.
As soon as we pulled up and I saw the mob of people in their pajamas…Continue

Today I got into thinking in the word love...
It is not only such a strong word, but also an extreme feeling.
I can recall I've said it a couple of times, but I think i've been actually in love just twice in my life.
Of course we have different…Continue

This past weekend while I was surfing the internet I found "100 Pictures That Changed the World." I was immediately fascinated with all the pictures that were taken in the past that changed the future. One…Continue
I reciently came back from Dallas where I experienced the NFL. No, I'm not talking about football, I'm talking about the National Forensics Leauge, also known as the national competition for speech and debate. Last week people from all over our nation and even some from outside of the United States gathered in Dallas, Tx to show off thier skills. A lot of people mistake debate to be only for people who argue about boring topics when in reality, it's a sport with over 10 events that you can…Continue
This weekend I found myself extremely frustrated with a lot of the people I met. I recently started a new job as a hostess at a local restaurant. As I began meeting people and going through the basic introductory questions, I realized many people became confused and upset when I mentioned I attended school out of town. Many people asked, "Well whats in Austin?", or "What, you can't study English here?".
I could feel my face burning, as I got asked those questions. Going away for…Continue
