Last night my guy friend dragged me (literally) to the premier of Transformers 3 at midnight. I was hesitant to go not only because I have no interest in fighting robots, but because of how packed the movies get on premier night. Of course we had to wait in a ridiculously long line for an hour. Waiting was not what bothered me though, it was what happened in the line that upset me.
While standing in the line with my friend, a group of girls I went to high school with came to say…Continue

Last week I came across something on Twitter that really upset me at first. A guy friend of mine retweeted a post from a friend of his saying, "What's up with girls thinking they live in the Notebook. Grow up.". What upset me about this, is first off I LOVE the Notebook, and second what is so wrong with us girls wanting such a beautiful, timeless love like the one portrayed by Noah and Allie?
Then I began to wonder, are we really expecting too much when it comes to guys? We are a…Continue
Last night my friend thought it would be fun to take me to a home on the east side where people believe the Virgin Mary had appeared. I was hesitant because of course this is someone's property we would be disturbing, and it was almost midnight. I was also quite skeptical about holy apparitions (especially to latinos), after seeing the infamous tortilla with the face of Jesus burned onto it, on Primer Impacto.
As soon as we pulled up and I saw the mob of people in their pajamas…Continue

This weekend I found myself extremely frustrated with a lot of the people I met. I recently started a new job as a hostess at a local restaurant. As I began meeting people and going through the basic introductory questions, I realized many people became confused and upset when I mentioned I attended school out of town. Many people asked, "Well whats in Austin?", or "What, you can't study English here?".
I could feel my face burning, as I got asked those questions. Going away for…Continue
Last night I stayed up watching Our Family Wedding, which features America Ferrera and Carlos Mencia. If you haven't seen the previews, the movie is about a young Mexican American woman, Lucia trying to break the news to her family that she is engaged to a black man Marcus, and that she has dropped out of law school.
In the aftershock of their announcement, the two families try to get along and things get pretty hilarious. However as the wedding date gets closer the couple begins to…Continue

The week before finals I was shocked when my best friend called me and told me she was thinking of breaking up with her boyfriend. They had been together for three years and were practically inseparable. When I asked her why, she said as she looked at him now she would never date the person he had become. He had joined at fraternity and was trying much too hard to fit in. On top of that he had stopped appreciating her, and she no longer felt like she was of any real importance to…Continue
Last night was a great night to be stationed in front of the television for a few hours. The Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat met up for game three, Chicharito showed off his awesome soccer skills, and of course there was my personal pick, the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.
Tuning in for the award show has become a tradition of mine. Last night's show did not disappoint. Like, expected Twilight dominated the awards show, taking home everything from Best Movie to Best Kiss. I was grateful…Continue
