That Mexicans are lazy!
This is probably the stereotype that I dislike the most. Besides saying that we are loud, that we all eat very hot chile or we are not true Mexicans and besides thinking we all walk around in huge sombreros, saying that we are lazy is probably one of the biggest most silly stereotypes I've heard. Because everyone in my family from my grandparents to my aunts and uncles, parents and brothers have always been hardworking. It is just the way we were taught.
But forget Mexican stereotypes, all stereotypes in general and of all ethnicities are wrong. Because they assume we are all alike, and like this image that someone else has created for us only to group us together, and at the same time divide us from the rest.
Yet, before focusing on what stereotypes I dislike about my our ethnicity and culture, we should stop and make sure we are not using them against other ethnicities and against ourselves. We have grown so accustomed to them that we might not even notice it. And it goes both ways.
