A Simple Introduction

See that photo up there? I'm the fourth one on the right. These people are my best friends and we were celebrating Holi, a Hindu Holiday.

My name is Kimberley Carmona and I’m a second-year student at the University of Texas at Austin. Before I had moved to Austin, I had lived in Brownsville, Texas for my entire life. I had a hard time adjusting to my new life in Austin especially when I realized that the Mexican food in Austin was not the same as the food back home. I was very homesick for the first few months, but then I managed to make Austin my new home. I'm now consider myself a local (sometimes). 

My goal in life is to work in the entertainment business. My parents never wanted me to become a journalism major. They wanted me to go to law school or medical school. It took me a while to gain the courage, but I finally told my parents that I was going to do something I love. They understood. Because of my love for entertainment, I decided to go to school here in Austin. I've had the pleasure to meet few famous people in my time here including Chelsea Handler (comedian and author), Panic! at the Disco (band), Hot Chelle Rae (band) and Cady Groves (singer).

"Everything happens for a reason" is my motto in life. Why? It's a true statement in my eyes. A couple years ago, I failed to make state finals for the state history fair. That allowed my partners and I to take a tour of the UT-Austin campus. At that moment in life, I never wanted to attend UT. My dream was to go to school in Boston. After one small tour, I had fallen in love with the campus. I'm now a proud Texas Longhorn. By the time I graduated high school, I was pumped to be attending my dream school. That girl holding the hook 'em sign (the sign for UT) is me. This was taken at my high school graduation.

Just like any girl out there, I have my ups and downs. Here are my words of wisdom that make me realize that life is such a beautiful thing. 

• Always be yourself.
• Never give up.
• Don't let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams. 
• You are beautiful -- forever and always.
