LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

Today we went on our first fieldtrip and it was very good fun. We went to two botiques called Strut and Marigold: Gateway to India, both on Lamar and just across from each other.

We went to Strut first, mananged by a very pleasent lady named Robin (I think). They had some very lovely accessories (jewelry, hats, shoes, scarves). I especially loved the shoes! They were very elegant. Everything was soo amazing, all very chic and classy and modern. I loved the local Austin feel.

The next botique was Marigold: A Gateway to India. It was owned by a very cordial woman named Lita. Everything in her store was picked out by her straight from India. She had a bit of everything, clothes for both genders of every age, jewelry of all kinds, ornaments and practical necessities for the home. From what I could tell, everything was handmade from India, which is very amazing, considering the detail and beauty of everything in her shop. I loved this simple white dress with an interesting weave. I don't know why I instantly fell for it, especially since I would never wear it. But it was SO pretty.

I honsetly liked both shops equally, although the feel of each shop was VERY different. I'm definitely going back to both botiques to shop, and did you know what? Shopping local helps your city's economy MUCH more that nationwide corporations.

So maybe try out Strut instead of Forever 21 sometime soon, to help out Austin and to be more original!

Thanks for reading! :)

Those boutiques sounds amazing, especially the Marigold: A Gateway to India! I love finding little shops like that; it's like discovering a brand new treasure!
