LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

If you love to write and are looking for ways to improve your resume for college or simply looking to improve your resume you’ve clicked to the right blog. While surfing online I encountered myself with plenty of publishing opportunities that I think you might be interested in (if you love to write). BUT before proceeding, if you haven’t already, I suggest you look into Latinitas if you are looking to get published too (I hear they are accepting applicants for YEAB fall ’12).

The Claremont Review (ages 13-19):
This is a Canadian journal compromised of teen writing; they accept submissions twice a year in Fall and Spring from any English speaking country. This is great if you are looking to get your writing to international eyes.

TeenVoices (ages 13-19):
This is a girls’ only magazine that accepts submissions from any area poems, short stories, essays and any type of art (photography, digital art or paintings).

Meryln’s Pen (13-18):
Merylin’s Pen is only for High School students and accepts any genre of writing in any form. Your writing will be published not in a magazine but a book (an anthology).

Skipping stones Magazines (any age):
Is a multicultural Magazine that looks for writing in different cultures. This is a great opportunity for those Latinas who want to share their culture or educate others about it. They have two types of magazines a children’s one and a young adult one (and you can submit writing to either magazine).

Mujeres de Maiz (any age; deadline: October 1st 2012):
This a magazine for chicana/latina writers only, but they have a theme for their whole magazine. This year’s theme is identity-related, so if you’re interested check it out. Also, they only publish once a year and they have a deadline.

L.A. Weekly (any age):
This is for Los Angles’ Latinas of any age, but I think any latina from any state may submit. The submission guidelines does not really say “los angeles only” so I’m assuming that if you live in N.Y. or TX that you can submit too. They only publish poetry.

Surround Journal (For High School Girls only):
SJ gives you the freedom to submit any type of writing. Although they only accept once a year and their deadline has passed, If you are interested be sure to write Surround Journal in your planner and when they start accepting again, be sure to submit.

Louder than Words (13-19):
LTW publishes memoirs only, so if you have an inspiring story or challenge you’ve overcome and want to share it, this is for you. The writing is published in a book (anthology) not a magazine.

Girl Speak (girls aged 13-22):
GS accepts writing for women art in any form/genre. They ask that you submit your best work or any work that you are proud of! : )
