Founders Note - We Started the Photoshopping War a Long Time Ago

So a little chica with curly blonde hair takes a stand against Seventeen magazine about how much they photo-shop women's images in their magazines and the feminist world is listening up and responding. The mainstream is giving this niña a nod. Social media is making her their little Norma Rae *(70s reference to a woman who organized unions) of photoshop abuse.   HEY! USA! Latinitas has been making these kind of media literacy calls and commentaries for a decade now and hundreds, no thousands of Latinitas who have engaged in our digital media education programs have been analyzing the pages of the now defunct CostmoGirl, GlamourGirl, other terrible magazineGirl for its misrepresenation of female humanity, width, height, nose-shape, etc. In fact, 11-year old Cerece Williams (a MyLatinitas.com bloguera) last year left Latinitas summer camp and spent the rest of her break from school lambasting teen and womens' press for altering images of real women in their magazines.  As always, mainstream media is behind the Latina curve.  Latina actresses and performers have revitalized traditional perspectives of women's beauty - shape, curves, butts...less bones and more body and now I have to chime in that our Latinitas' reporters have been talking up the blogosphere for years about fashion editors and art directors misuse of design software and the female anatomy - so I ask you American mainstream media - where is their mention in the NY Times!
