Sometimes we forget how to respect and be kind to one another. Friendship is a valuable thing and our peers are people we spend most of our time with. However, sometimes we take advantage of these friendships by being rude to one another. During Valentine's Week, the girls got to brainstorm what a good friend is and what a bad friend is. A good friend is someone who supports your decisions and listens to you. A bad friend is someone who peer pressures you and is not respectful of your decisions or space.
One of the activities was for the girls to create Friendship Banners. The girls created a positive friendship message to each club member. Examples included:
(Latinita club members name; you are a great listener)
(Latinita club members name; you always make me smile)
This made girls think about the friendship qualities the club members have and once they were done, they handed out the hearts to each of the girls. The girls received their hearts and made a friendship banner out of the hearts, filled with positive messages about them.
