Is staying Friends really gonna help or should we end it completely?

I need some advice for my friend who is really struggling with his relationship can u help plz. Well the deal is that she thinks there is no more passion and has no choice but to brake up with her boyfriend. Then they want to remain friends but just dont think it will be the same or able to work that way. In my opinion i think its better to be friends than nothing at all unless it was a bad brake up which in this situation it wasn't. So will being friends make this couple appreciate themselves more and find out if they were really meant to be together or is it a lost case?
