Comment by Jasmine Villa on April 27, 2012 at 12:04pm The holocaust videos make me cry every single time. I don't like comparing something that is worse than the other, the holocaust and what Kony is doing are equally wretched. Holocaust victims were experimented on for medical reasons, including children. Some children were sent to gas chambers JUST for being children. I'm not surprised about people blocking out the Holocaust, mostly because more and more people are desensitized to what is happening outside the U.S. The media tends to warp things, that we cannot control, but we can control how we view the material by just looking at other sources, not just one. Get multiple perspectives and then piece it together, like how you did with your mom's friend, the video, and the media. I don't believe that what Kony is doing is fake, but I don't see many people actually doing something about it. This is a good article about Kony: http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/03/07/stop-kony-yes-but-dont-st...
Comment by Sonia Rangel on April 27, 2012 at 9:58am I think Kony is real and an evil man. He's done a lot of horrifying things. I just don't really believe in Invisible Children and the Kony 2012 campaign. I don't know a lot about African geopolitics but there are several things that do not sit well with me about Invisible Children. The media is a very powerful tool that can make us aware of things happening in the world which is a very good thing. There are also a lot of other things that the media doesn't cover or is biased. There's been a lot more "holocausts" in the world that I didn't even know about until I went to college. Pretty sad really. Sometimes you have to dig deeper in order to find out the truth and do your research.
