Keep it Real Challenge

The Keep it Real Challenge is an amazing protest against the misrepresentation of women in the media. Women come in all shapes and sizes but the only shape magazines seem to care about is the tall, thin, and size zero shapes. These women interest magazines are supposed to care for the young girls and women but they are the ones who cause the most harm. They all come out with articles about how to put a cute outfit together, how to paint your nails creatively, fun ways to do your hair for the week, and how to feel confident and love yourself. Well it seems like they talk the talk but do not walk the walk. There is too much talk and no action going on here, as they say one thing but do the complete opposite, They want girls to feel good about themselves but then they just showcase one type of girl. One type of look. One type of body,

The world is beautiful because of its diversity. People are beautiful because we are all different. Women are beautiful because they are all unique. We are not robots or clones that come out of a machine. We are human beings, with emotions, with feelings. But these magazines seem to think that only one type of women is beautiful. They are beautiful. In fact, some of these women are really beautiful, but they are just one type of beauty.

It's as if the only flowers that were considered beautiful were roses, and people only wanted to buy roses. What about tulips, carnations, daisies, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, lilies, and orchids? What a sad world that would be! Each and every single one of those flowers has their own unique qualities that are truly beautiful. The differences, from one flower to the next, highlight the beauty that lies within each distinct flower.

It's as if there was only one color in the world. It's as if there was only one language. It's as if there were only forests and no beaches. It's as if there were only dramatic movies and no funny, romantic, scary, suspense, or magical movies.

The world would be a boring place without a diversity. and we all need to be able to appreciate the differences which set us apart from others. magazines need to stop only having one type of model portrayed. They need to stop altering those models' bodies, and accept them for who they are. They need to accept all women for who they are and how they look. It is a necessity for the media to support all types of women as they play an immense role in how women perceive themselves. If these magazines truly care about young girls and women, if they truly act upon what they stand for, then they will listen to their needs and do the impossible to make things right for them.
