LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

Ever wonder where Reggaetón comes from? Before Daddy Yankee was making big hits in the U.S. charts, DJs in Puerto Rico were mixing drum beats from popular Reggae from Panama with Hip Hop in the 90s. I learned interesting music trivia like this and more about salsa, latin hip hop, pop, tejano, and rock n roll on an interesting PBS show during Hispanic Heritage Month. Latin Music USA highlights the roots of Latin music in the USA showing the musical influences that inspired La Bamba, Selena, Ricky Martin's livin la vida loca, Jenny from the Block and Shakira. I find it fascinating to hear about how this music is a hybrid of Latino and American cultures. It truly represents the blends of our cultures.
