Latinas being stereotyped (Sophia Vergara)

Sophia Vergara???? Many would know her as the beautiful Colombian Actress, comedian, television hostess, and model. Not to long ago she was apart of an article showing her interview with Esquire magazine were she was discussing a few different things on Latina woman.

She discusses Latina's on being sexy, pretty, yellers, and scandalous. She also mentions on how maids are a must to a South American household. And last she discusses on Latina's wearing smaller bathing suits.

To me as I sit here and feel she took it a little to far wonder why is it that Latina's or anyone have to be labeled? We are not objects we are human beings. Now on the other hand I am the first to stand by to an extent and say many women not only Latina’s can be yellers and scandalous with choices they make but that does not define for ALL. Now as for pretty and sexy goes, to me those are two things that are not defined on the outside but on the inside of a person’s heart and soul. A Latina woman or any woman for that matter does not have to dress a certain way to be noticed as sexy or pretty. The only thing that will bring you is the wrong type of man. A person's heart makes them sexy with the passion and love that they have burning inside them.

As far as having a maid goes. That may very well work for other people and no disrespect but to me that would just make me feel like if I am spoiled which can be nice in some cases :), but not a maid to do everything for you, because how are anyone especially woman suppose to learn to be strong and independent for themselves! To be able to stand on there own two feet as they mature. To me I love the thought of having that Latina girl power feeling of being a strong independent woman. I love to know that my mother god rest her soul raised a strong woman to go out and face the world and come out on top. To be able to feel like the prize is mine to win! :) And nothing or no one can stop me from fulfilling my dreams! A person in my opinion needs to experience a life without a maid and make something of it!

Sophia states in this interview “Listen, I didn't know how to make coffee when I came to the United States because in Colombia the maids do it. A mother tells the maids what to cook. The mothers are like conductors of the household. But they're not really doing it. She discusses on how everyone has a maid were she is from. Customs may be very different from were she is from but me? I would rather go without a maid. It just means you have to take a chance at learning something new even if it is making coffee. But then again she has enough money im sure to have a maid for the rest of her life. That may very well be her choice but I see it as a waist if the person is able to perform daily tasks that a maid would. 

Almost every person owns a bathing suit. There are appropriate ones and some that are not so appropriate. I have seen the dental floss bikini to be very revealing and it is not one I ever want to wear.

In conclusion, to be able to stand on your own feet surviving life and taking chances is what life is all about. If u don’t take it it may very well pass you by. And to all women especially my latinita's go out and make a beautiful positive loving life for yourself! You are all beautiful. You just have to believe in yourself and never let anyone define you! Why? Because "Si se puede"!
