Hola tod@s out in the blogosphere. I'd like to spread the word about a workshop series I've been putting together for the past few months now. Parent-Daughter Workshops! Young girls please tell your folks about this!
Latinitas has been an organization I have volunteered with over the course of my college career. Now that I'm out in the real world, I continue to work with this organization because their mission is one I really connect to as a Chicana media maker. My project is one that I've put alotta my school knowledge and personal experiences into.
What are some workshops I woulda liked to have gone to as a young, shy Mexican girl? How can these workshops be accessible to folks without cars (my mom didn't have a car and my dad was always working)? My family is in H-Town and when I visited I asked mi hermanita, would you go to this event? Also, how can my project provide access to media to bilingual families and support Latinitas as an organization? Too many questions! But, it's a learning process.
Basically, please spread the word about these workshops so we can continue the mission to bring media to Latinas! I present to you...

Latinitas is offering a new series of Saturday workshops for girls ages 9-15 that would bring parents/guardians (grandparents or other caretakers too!) and their daughters together to learn about new technologies and media careers. The Parent-Daughter Workshops foster a space where both older and younger generations can explore media in a way that promotes bonding, literacy, and involvement within the family. Latinitas envisions this project as a way of creating communities that support young girls in their development as media makers.
