This week the girls talked about violence in tribute to domestic violence awareness month. They had conversations about what a healthy relationship was and what an unhealthy relationship was in contrast to that.
Erin Said,
"There is bad people that think it's right to be the boss, mean to girls and boys. They should also be mean mentally or physically. Love shouldn't hurt and girls, don't ask for it!"
When talking about her definition of an unhealthy relationship, Katelyn said,
"In a relationship between a girl and a boy it's not okay to be around each other constantly because they tend to fight alot. If they are always critisizing and fighting with each other then you know it's a bad relationship."
Katrina said,
"A healthy relationship is when you support each other and respect each other. You love each other and help when one of you needs it. Although, never obsess over each other, that's an example of an unhealthy relationship. Hitting and forcing one or the other into doing something that they don't want to do."
They came up with 5 reasons why violence may exist today:
1. There are bad people
2. People like power
3. Girls ask for it sometimes with the way they present themselves
4. Representation on TV of girls and how they should act: Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club, etc.
5. They don't know that love shouldn't hurt
