I want to start writing about the importance of things; mainly the importance of specific species of animals. Plants and natural resources are great too, but other topics can be considered. There are too many choices if I just take some off the top of my head, so I am asking for any suggestions. If you find yourself questioning, “why are sting rays important?” for example, you can leave that comment on my blog or page, and hopefully I’ll be able to answer it. This could actually be a fun challenge for me- thinking about the meaning behind things that I normally don’t consider.
Here is an example:
Bees are important because they pollinate the majority of fruits here in the USA. In other countries, they still provide pollination, but at different levels depending on the crops grown. Without bees, it is predicted that the human race would have on 4 years to live. There are other pollinators, but I can’t imagine that butterfly populations, for example, would be large enough to provide pollination to vast areas of cropland, when right now, they’re populations along with the bee populations, are needed. Actually, some crops will accept no other pollinator. Without sufficient pollination, crops will die, and a fall in essential vitamin containing crops (there are no substitute for fruits) supply could yield widespread starvation, as well as economic collapse.
