Trick Up Your Guys Tux!

Ok, so last post, I wrote about the hottest prom dresses for girls. And since we always pick out what our boyfriends are going to where anyway, I decided to write about the latest looks in tux accessories. There aren’t too many times in a man’s life when he’s called upon to wear a tuxedo. 

Oh, yeah – some guys wear tuxes at their weddings, but that's AT LEAST a few years away (I think!). But here are a few cool accents for a guy to trick up his tux!

First, there’s the classic top hat, which brings back memories of Fred Astaire cutting a rug with Ginger Rogers back in 1935.

You’ll be happy to know that, 77 years later, the top hat still hasn’t gone out of style. For between $60 and $70, any man with the right panache and style can top off his tux with wool, 19^th-century style top hat, guaranteed to make him stand tall in his tux in more ways than one.

Is it pretentious to carry a stylish cane while wearing a stylish tux? Who cares? If you believe you can pull that off, then you probably can, you suave son-of-a-gun.

And even if you can’t, you won’t feel too bad ditching the cane in a potted plant or the trash, when the price of a formal walking cane is as low as about six bucks. So take a chance, and bring a cane to the dance!

If you want a little flash with your tux without being too ostentatious about it, try investing some extra bucks in your cufflinks. For about $250-to-$300, you can buy something in, say, silver-and-onyx or mother-of-pearl that will last you a lifetime – and make a lasting impression at the ball.
