Volunteering in the Woman's Conference-LULAC

Yesterday I had the opportunity to Volunteer at the Woman's Conference at the Camino Real Hotel, but basically I was the only one outside of the organization that volunteered, another girl helped out too but she came with her mom, which was part of the organization that helped host the Conference. I had to wake up at 6 a.m. to help out and set up, and like mostly everyone on here, who would want to wake up early on a Saturday? In the beginning I sat through a few speeches and after that I got up (got tired of sitting down and it was cold!) and went to each table/booth asking them if they needed a break that I could take care of their tables, many asked me about lunch, so I once again walked back and forth to each booth to tell them about lunch. At that time I heard that people were stealing from the tables, I wont go to much detail, but I mean that is just wrong and to think they were mature women!

I also saw a few Latinita girls walking around taking photos and asking questions, so it all connects to this blog!

I had the chance to re-meet women from LULAC which were the ones who hosted the Woman's Conference, and also talk to one particular lady (and sat next to during lunch) which of whom got Most Influential Woman not only in El Paso, not only in the state of Texas, but also in the Nation, what an honor! For those of you who dont know about LULAC, still in high school or in college, it is an organization that helps out ANY student whether your hispanic, white, indian, have A's and B's or even C's and D's get scholarships! Because it is my second time meeting these wonderful women, and helping them out, I was invited to a Dinner to become an official member of LULAC (and so do two of my friends, they meet them too but they did not go yesterday, oh what they missed!) Now this doesnt happen everyday, and to think that Andrea, the main lady that was the host (and as well as the Feria de Salud) only told me of this volunteering opportunity, one of the LULAC women said that she sees "something in me."

I hope to take this experience and advice from many public speakers, many whom were women, doctors, specialists, ordinary women who are making a change for others, and make use of it in the future.

Conferences are a great way of networking too! That is very cool!
