LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

Hey Girls,

I am working on a story about youth and voting. I would like to see what you guys have to say about the whole process and your contributions as minors. Please answer the following questions so that we can discuss:

1. What is voting? When and where did you first hear about it?

2. Who votes? Who have you seen voting?

3. Is it important to vote? Why or why not?

4. What do you do to be involved in the voting process since you are a minor and cannot vote yet?

5. Do you follow the elections? What do you know about the elections?

6. What do you know about the voting process?

7. What are some of the major debates (some of them impacting you as a young Latina now or in the future) that are taking place and concerning the election?

8. Do you think voting is a different experience for Latinos/Latino youth? Why or why not?

I might add more to the list but let me know what you think!

1. Voting is the greatest right we United States Citizens have. I first heard about through school during the 2004 Elections.

2. US Citizens vote, I've seen vitizens of all color, ages and gender vote.

3. It's super important we vote. It's our chance to have a say in our govt. So many people complain about the president and their the ones  didn't vote all all.

4. I'm involved in the voting proccess by informing my parents about what canidate they should vote for.

5. I do follow the elections. I like politics. Judging by the canidates I like what Obama stands for and if I was 18 I would vote for him.

6. I know that our votes don't necessary elect the president. The elctoral college elects the president.

7. I am concered about student loans since in 2 years I will be applying for them so I can attend college. I am also worried about jobs and gas.

8. It depends I think. For me I like to be treated the same. I may be Hispanic, but I was born here and I dignify with the American culture. For others who became citizens recently and were born somewhere else they may have a different voting experience.
