Before watching the Grammy's, I was going to choose Amy Poehler as my favorite person of the week, but since I decided to change my mind last minute, here is a way of sneaking Amy Poehler's greatness into my post! This article on BuzzFeed highlights 15 amazing quotes from the wonderful Amy herself.
Just Kids by Patti Smith

This week, I finished Just Kids by Patti Smith and I have to say that it is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. Reading it felt like I was reading a song. Goodreads description of this book says: "In Just Kids, Patti Smith's first book of prose, the legendary American artist offers a never-before-seen glimpse of her remarkable relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the epochal days of New York City and the ChelseaHotel in the late sixties and seventies. An honest and moving story of youth and friendship, Smith brings the same unique, lyrical quality to Just Kids as she has to the rest of her formidable body of work--from her influential 1975 album Horses to her visual art and poetry." I can't even begin to describe how beautiful and wonderful this book is. I was hesitant to start the book because I'm not a huge fan of Patti Smith's music and I was just expecting it to be a book about how hard it was to make it big in the music industry, but it wasn't even about the climb in her career; it was about love and friendship. Incredible, wonderful book. I loved it!
Movie TV Show
Parks and Recreation
I didn't watch a movie I loved this week. I did, however, start watching Parks and Recreation (finally) and I have to say I am HOOKED. This show is so wonderful and amazing! It deserves all the awards! Leslie Knope is an incredible role model and I really believe that all women should watch this show. The protagonist of the show is a woman AND it doesn't revolve around romance! SHOCKER, RIGHT?!?!?! I am so impressed with Parks and Rec. I really can't commend it enough. LOVE IT.
"Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons ft. Kendrick Lamar
The Grammy's show was today and with it came some amazing performances. My favorite musical performance of the night was the Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar collaboration. It was so amazing and mind-blowing. I'm not sure if the video is up yet, but everyone definitely needs to look it up and be uplifted. My friend Yanin put it best when she said, "That performance gave me life!"

I just finished watching the Grammy's, so I'm on a music rush. Most of all, though, I'm on a Beyonce rush. She is just so fabulous and beautiful and amazing and...I obviously can't stop gushing about her. I just want to be Beyonce.
I love this glimpse of my beautiful mountains. I have to admit that the Franklin Mountains are my favorite part of El Paso.
This week, I have two favorite quotes.
The first one is short, but sweet.. And powerful!
This week's random is.. THE GRAMMY'S!!! I'm sorry, I just watched that a couple of hours ago and that's all I can think about. The performances this year were just out of this world. Let's talk about the fact that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were on the same stage again! AND Stevie Wonder shared a stage with Daft Punk. STEVIE WONDER AND DAFT PUNK. And it was absolutely LEGENDARY! AND Beyonce and Jay Z!!!! They also shared a stage and it was also legendary. I've already talked about Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, but they were also amazing! Towards the end of the show, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, accompanied by Mary Lambert, Queen Latifah, and Madonna performed "Same Love," where Queen Latifah officiated a wedding of 33 incredibly diverse couples. It was beautiful, touching, and simply wonderful. If you have time, you should definitely look up all the performances! They were exclamation point worthy. (I'm sorry for over-using them, I'm just excited!!!)

I came across these Mango Popsicles with Chile and let me just tell you, I can't wait to make them! I love mango with chile, "mangoneadas", the mango shaved ice at Bahama Buck's topped with chamoy and chile, and basically anything that involves mango and powdered spicy goodness. These sound perfect! The recipe calls for alcohol, but that step can easily be skipped. Don't they look so good?
Lately, there have been many articles proclaiming to know "Top # of Beauty/Fashion Trends Men Hate". Frankly, I couldn't care less if men love or hate the things I love because I'm wearing them for me, not for them. Taylor, aka "tadelesmith" on youtube, agrees with me. She made this video parodying those articles. It's hilarious and definitely a must watch! Keep wearing what you're wearing, beautiful women, because fashion is about makes YOU happy!
