If you’re not in college yet, you should be preparing for the most amazing and frustrating time of your life, you’ll be choosing your life path and will get to know a lot of people. But there are some things that no one tells you about this experience.
What I’ve seen so far it’s that nothing is what you see in college movies; a lot of partying, boys, alcohol, no studying… yeah it happens a lot but it’s not the most important thing there; most of the people I’ve seen are focused on getting their college degree and getting jobs so they can help their families and maybe buy a new car or something they want.
You won’t make a lot of friends at first; my first semester was awful in that aspect, I’m a really shy person so I couldn’t be that friendly. But as I joined more organizations and went to school events I had the opportunity of being more open and friendlier and now I have more friends, I’m not that social but I know way more people than back in that day.
College can be the best time or the worst time of your life, it’s up to you; the only thing I can say is be ready for more responsibilities and challenges that you didn’t have to face in high school, life is going to change and it can be hard at first, but after facing the reality, it’ll be the best thing ever.
There’s a long way ahead and the best thing is to enjoy the road.
