The question that I get asked at nearly every family gathering is “What do you plan to do after college” a.k.a “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
When I was young I wanted to be a veterinarian. As I got older I threw out that idea because I could not bare the thought of performing surgery on animals so I switched my dream career to an orthodontist. By high school I had decided that I wanted to be a teacher instead. After my freshman year of college I realized that teaching was not for me and so I began considering being a social worker, then I thought of being a screenwriter. Now I am doing something completely different!
I have finally found my passions: social media and writing. I tried out nearly every option I could think of until I found what really interested me. So do not be scared or worried if you are not sure what you want to do when you get older. Take a bunch of different classes and try volunteering in different industries to find out what you like best. It takes time to figure out what you like but we will all get there!
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” - Christopher Reeve
